The '''protectors''' are guardian spirits or other powerful entities that have adopted a [[demistate]] for their own. They are frequently invoked as parts of curses, blessing or prayers. While some of them may respond to such invocation, most are content to observe at a distance and not meddle.

When one demistate expands, new borders form and the protectors of adjacent demistates may rise to challenge the new borders, to the detriment of those who happen to live in the area.
