The Fringes
The Fringes is a somewhat vague term, and indicates the newest parts of Termanistan - those last wrestled from the grasp of the Unborn Void. Generally, the term is used to indicate the parts most distant from Termanistan's center, but occasionally includes any land added by a recent Rift.
Nature
The Fringes are noted for the frequency with which new rifts appear. It is as though Termanistan wants to grow, and new land is added every day. Because of this, The Fringes are considered a dangerous area to visit. There are very few permanent residents, and a map only a few weeks old is unlikely to match the terrain.
Location
Only The Spires, The Celenes, Boilerworks and The Greens have completely mapped borders and contain no fringes. Of course the occasional rift still happens, but they tend to be limited in scope.
Northwan's mountains reach to the borders of Termanistan, and new rifts often cause avalanches and volcanoes there.
Raszhan, Zil-Shahaar, Suno-Haiinah, and Thelaash have the largest areas that may be considered Fringes. Many who have tried to cross Raszhan's deserts claim rifts happen there often enough that no-one will ever be able to cross them.
Et-Gong's rifts tend to happen in rivers and lakes, adding new islands and uninhabited lands where no-one will be bothered by their sudden appearance.
At the bottom of the giant open-pit mine of The Winding, new room, new materials and new depths continue to appear. Occasionally the whole mine grows.
Nobody has mapped the entirety of Orgram's jungles, but it is believed the entire south border is part of The Fringes.
